Designed and built by artist-designer Jule Körner in the late 1870s, Korner’s Folly is a bizarre 22-room home unlike any other in the world. 22 rooms are spread out over three floors and seven levels, with unusual funhouse-like doorways and hallways and ceilings ranging from a mere five-and-a half to 25 feet high. Adults and children alike are fascinated with the Folly's trap doors, underground tunnels and winding staircase, as well as the house's decorative murals and 15 ornate fireplace mantles. Korner's Folly is located in Kernersville, ten miles east of downtown Winston-Salem.
